Helping Each Other: 3 Scenes

I watched three scenes where Scotty and Kelly resp. Cos&Culp are helping each other - perhaps you like to enjoy them too.



No, it's not a scene - that's just a nice view before the lj-cut starts *g*.


The first very small one is from the episode "Pinwheel".

A man wearing a white jacket leaves the table. The man pushes the chair back, the chair is in too much distance to the table.




Scotty starts to sit down and doesn't know his distance towards the chair.

Lucky he has a certain close friend nearby who pushes the chair forward.



The second scene is from the episode "The Name Of The Game".

They are sitting in a police wagon and Kelly tries to put on a white shirt. His left arm and the shirt's left sleeve are no friends.


Now they have a date, we look at a part of his shirt, and Scotty watches it, too.


Notice the eleganceness of Scotty's fingers...

It doesn't hurt to touch a little longer than necessary...

The third scene is from the episode "Weight Of The World".

Bill Cosby spreads his thighs a little bit too much while he has to look for something in a bag. We don't mind it at all, but maybe someone in the 60s would have.

Robert Culp watches Bill Cosby's thighs too and he bows his head to his own bathrobe to indicate the problem.

Now Bill Cosby looks up and sees Robert Culp putting his hands onto his own bathrobe. He understands the gesture.

Sadly, Bill Cosby changes into a shy virgin and covers himself very quickly.

Oh, you made me laugh out loud, and I needed that! This seems like an excellent theme, as I bet there is something in every single episode like this -- but the robe!!!

I'd never noticed the chair thing in "Pinwheel", I don't think. And in the white shirt caps, all I can see is Bob's beautiful hair, but ... still, the lingering touch is very sweet.

I originally watched the chair scene in slow motion hoping they would touch each other. They didn't, but Kelly's support was ...interesting. - I thought about how people in the south of USA in the 60s would think about it - a white man "helping with a chair" a black man without hesitation.

I have one beautiful pic of Robert Culp's hair, so shining. It will appear in this comm some time with other pics showing him ;-).

It seems to me Bill Cosby didn't think about the "lingering touch", he even didn't look at Robert Culp, and it probably was sort of automatic *g*.

That's a very good point! The hallmark of I Spy, besides the obvious deep friendship of Kelly and Scotty, was how they made statements on race without really saying anything. It was usually subtle and subliminal.

This is great! All those little moments are absolutely fantastic, and there are soooo many of them woven throughout the entire show, even in the tiniest corners. ♥

The robe... it was the third time I saw this scene, and I am at least a little bit trained to recognize unusual movements of Cos&Culp. It was Bill Cosby's thigh - he moved it very jumpily, different to how he moves apart from that.

I'm still very sad about this scene - Robert Culp should have made the opposite movement. I''m sure everybody here would have approved if Scotty removed the orange bathrobe instead of clinging to it ;-)
